Starting today and spanning the next three months, Swiss International Air Lines (SWISS) is set to provide an exclusive culinary experience for its First and Business Class passengers on long-haul flights departing from Switzerland. The delectable offerings stem from the kitchen of Kempinski Palace Engelberg, a five-star superior hotel in Engelberg, Canton Obwalden, led by the talented Michéle Müller, the executive chef.

Michéle Müller, known for her international culinary expertise, draws inspiration from both her global experiences and the menus of Kempinski Palace Engelberg. Nestled in the Central Swiss Alps, this hotel is a proud member of the esteemed Kempinski Group and boasts an impressive 14 GaultMillau points.

Julia Hillenbrand, Head of Brand Experience at SWISS, expresses enthusiasm, stating, “We are delighted to present Michéle Müller’s creations to our inflight guests. Michéle’s innovative use of surprising ingredients and unique interpretation of classic dishes promise genuine culinary highlights from the renowned Kempinski Palace Engelberg’s five-star kitchens.”

Michéle Müller shares insights into her culinary approach, saying, “Having spent several years cooking in the Middle East, my experiences there have left a lasting impression. This is why I incorporate exotic spices into my dishes, breathing new life into classic recipes. It’s an honor to share my creations with SWISS’s passengers.”

The ‘SWISS Taste of Switzerland’ programme introduces Michéle Müller’s main-course creations for SWISS Business and First Class travelers. SWISS Business guests can savor beef tenderloin with za’atar spices, date jus, mashed potatoes with harissa, carrots, and romanesco. Meanwhile, SWISS First Class patrons will indulge in salmon trout with beurre noisette, smoked almond cream, parsley potatoes, and cauliflower.

For SWISS Premium Economy travelers, a three-course meal inspired by the Obwalden region awaits. This includes marinated chicken with honey accompanied by a lentil ragout, Obwalden cheese, and a dessert featuring chocolate gingerbread with red wine pear compote.

This culinary journey is part of SWISS’s longstanding ‘SWISS Taste of Switzerland’ programme, which has been delighting First, Business, and Premium Economy Class passengers for 21 years. Each quarter, a new Michelin-starred and GaultMillau-point top chef is invited to showcase a diverse selection of quality dishes from their home canton, with an emphasis on regional and seasonal specialties. Over its successful history, the programme has featured 82 guest chefs, representing each of Switzerland’s 26 cantons.
