In an effort to strengthen its presence in the Indian travel market, the Taiwan Tourism Administration successfully hosted a six-day familiarization (FAM) trip for top leisure travel agents from key Indian cities. This event, held from September 23 to 28, 2024, was complemented by a high-profile roadshow in Mumbai, further promoting Taiwan as a premier destination for Indian leisure and incentive travelers.

The roadshow, which took place on September 27 at the Cullinan Banquet, Trident BKC, Mumbai, attracted over 90 key travel partners. Air India and EVA Air participated as official airline partners, fostering stronger connections between Taiwan and the Indian travel industry. The roadshow significantly enhanced Taiwan’s position as a favored destination for Indian leisure and MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) travelers.

The meticulously planned FAM trip offered Indian travel agents a first-hand experience of Taiwan’s diverse tourism offerings. Participants enjoyed Taiwan’s natural beauty, rich cultural experiences, and renowned hospitality. The highlights of the tour included stays at luxury leisure hotels, a tea-picking activity and traditional tea ceremony, as well as relaxing hot springs and fruit-picking activities in Nantou County. The group also visited the scenic Sun Moon Lake, took a cable car ride at the Formosan Aboriginal Culture Village, explored the Buddha Memorial Hall, and shopped at EDA World, which included a ride on its famous Ferris wheel. A visit to Taipei 101, one of the world’s tallest buildings, capped off the tour.

An important aspect of the tour was the inclusion of authentic Indian cuisine at local restaurants, dispelling the misconception about the lack of Indian and vegetarian food options in Taiwan. This thoughtful addition highlighted Taiwan’s readiness to cater to Indian travelers’ diverse culinary needs.

Beyond the immersive experiences, the trip facilitated productive B2B discussions between Indian travel agents and Taiwanese tourism stakeholders. These engagements led to potential partnerships and provided valuable operational insights into Taiwan’s tourism industry. The positive exchanges boosted Indian agents’ confidence in promoting Taiwan as a top destination for leisure travel.

The Taiwan Tourism Administration continues to build momentum in India through such initiatives, positioning Taiwan as a dynamic and experiential destination for Indian travelers, particularly in the incentive and leisure sectors.
