Tamil Nadu government announces new measures for improving tourism in the state

The Tamil Nadu government has announced new measures for improving tourism in the state. There is now a new master plan for developing the infrastructure of 300 tourist sites, and also coming up with a tourism policy. M. Mathiventhan, the Tourism Minister of Tamil Nadu has said that a tourism destination development scheme would be designed for progressing tourism sites, which includes adventure sites and eco-tourism sites.

The minister also said that the government is planning to advertise its hospitality services on various travel platforms to enlighten travellers.

The state government is planning helipads for helicopter services in Rameswaram, Madurai and Kodaikanal. The government will also look at operating cable-cars in hill stations.

The Tamil Nadu Tourism department is also thinking aboutjoining hands with the Tamil Nadu Development Corporation for bringing in a tourism hospitality skill development and certification programme.

Caravan operators, leading trekkers and hikers would be given guidelines. Destinations like Udhagamandalam, Kodaikkanal, Megamalai and Kanniyakumar will be developed for rural and plantation tourism.

Tamil Nadu is home to some of the best tourism sites in India. With enchanting hill stations like Ooty to amazingtemple towns like Madurai, the state is among the most culturally rich in India.
