Yesterday’s Thailand’s decision to welcome tourists from India, China, and Taiwan without visas surged insurmountably. This led to a surge in the number of Indian and Chinese tourists ahead of Republic Day and the Chinese New Year.

Indian and Chinese travellers went gaga with this announcement. Even before Republic Day and the Chinese New Year, there has been a surge in the inflow of tourists. The Association of Thai Travel Agents (ATTA) projected that the total number of foreign arrivals is likely to reach 2.5 million people. This projection is done on the basis of previous data that showed how, from January 1–7, the arrivals rose 41%, totalling 605,537 people.

The executive chairman of Thai AirAsia as well as Thai AirAsia X Tassapon Bijleveld told the media that almost 40% of China-Thailand flights have been blocked for January to February.

For Indian and Taiwanese tourists, this visa exemption started on November 10, 2023, and will continue until May 10, 2024. This initiative allows nationals from these countries to enjoy a 30-day stay in Thailand without a visa, providing an opportunity to explore Thailand’s diverse attractions.

The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) hopes to welcome 8 million Chinese visitors to the nation this year, which is a doubling from last year. Chinese visitors can stay in China for 30 days without a visa, with the option to stay for up to six months. Thai tourists are also granted this privilege.

Thailand is known for its beaches, with Railay, Kata, and Ko Phi Phi being the top favourites. The blue azure of the sea against the pristine luminescence transports people to another realm. In addition to this, there are events like the Half Moon and Black Moon parties that are vibrant and rich with fervour. Furthermore, visitors are preferring the chance to take part in these festivities in a different setting during the upcoming Chinese New Year and Republic Day in India.

Thailand is becoming a hot favourite amongst Indian tourists because of the presence of Lord Rama. Even after the post-consecration ceremony held at the Ram Temple in Ayodhya, India,. People are showing a lot of interest in Ayutthaya, which is Thailand’s personal Ayodhya. Here, the Ramakien, Thailand’s adaptation of the Ramayana, was brought to Southeast Asia by Buddhist missionaries. In addition, soil from this holy place was sent for the consecration ceremony of the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya.

Similarly, Chinese travellers have been granted a five-month visa waiver starting from September 25, 2023, to February 29, 2024. This period covers major Chinese holidays such as the Mid-Autumn Festival, National Day, and the Spring Festival, offering an optimal time for Chinese tourists to visit Thailand.
