The Great Scotland Yard Hotel hires Mario Flanagan as their General Manager

Mario Flanagan steps up as the new general manager at the Great Scotland Yard Hotel in Westminster. It is part of the Unbound Collection by Hyatt. With 26 years of experience in the hotel industry, Flanagan will bring his expertise to his role as general manager.

His journey has been an extraordinary one. Starting in 1997, he joined as the junior concierge at the Table Bay Hotel in Waterfront. His hard work got him appointed as the assistant manager in eight months. When he turned 21 in 1999, he was made the Head of Concierge, which led him to develop experience in the hospitality industry. Working at one of the leading five-star hotels in the world made Flanagan not only well equipped but seamlessly efficient. Furthermore, his efficiency will only benefit the Great Scotland Yard Hotel.

Mario Flanagan went on to become the Room Division Specialist in 2023. The line division in room management made him garner skills from a very root level. His ability to detect problems and solve them evolved as he secured himself a job as the Director of Rooms at the Hyatt Regency Johannesburg.

After working there and at Hyatt Regency London—The Churchill in 2010, Flanagan became the General Manager at Hyatt Regency Birmingham. Operating as the general manager made him finish a hotel refurbishment worth $6 million, which led Birmingham to win the Best Hotel in Birmingham in 2015.

His ability to solve problems, assess them, and formulate policies laid out by the hierarchy makes him a practical and nuanced taskmaster. He was awarded Manager of the Year at the prestigious Westside Business Improvement District Program in 2016. Flanagan ’s expertise and experience will make him operate in a sound manner as the general manager at the Great Scotland Yard Hotel, Westminster.
