The Ritz-Carlton Key Biscayne Returns with Updated Accommodations and Amenities

Published on December 13, 2025

The Ritz-Carlton Key Biscayne, Miami has officially reopened after completing a large-scale redevelopment valued at $100 million. Located along a private Atlantic Ocean shoreline and positioned a short distance from Miami, the resort has resumed operations following its first full property renewal in nearly twenty-five years. The reopening marks a significant update to one of Key Biscayne’s established beachfront hospitality properties, with changes applied across accommodations, dining venues, wellness facilities, and leisure spaces.

Spanning approximately seventeen acres of oceanfront land, the resort continues to operate as a full-service destination catering to leisure-focused travel. The completed project involved extensive updates to architecture, interior design, and outdoor spaces, with an emphasis on open-air layouts, direct ocean views, and materials reflecting the surrounding coastal environment. The redevelopment was led by Gencom in collaboration with multiple design studios, covering all public and private guest areas across the property.

Updated Architecture and Coastal-Oriented Public Spaces

The renewed resort layout emphasizes stronger visual and physical connections to the surrounding ocean and landscaped grounds. Public areas now feature expanded open-air elements, wide glass façades, and redesigned pathways that connect indoor spaces with outdoor terraces and gardens. A central arrival area incorporates water features and landscaped surroundings that extend from the lobby toward the beachfront areas.

Throughout the property, architectural updates focus on unobstructed sightlines and natural light, creating continuity between interior lounges, dining spaces, and exterior environments. Outdoor terraces, garden walkways, and beachfront access points form a network of shared spaces used throughout the day. These areas are designed to support a wide range of visitor activity, from daytime relaxation to evening social use, without altering the resort’s existing footprint.

Tourism-Oriented Resort Stays and Coastal Travel Appeal

For travelers seeking extended coastal stays, the resort continues to function as a self-contained destination offering accommodations, dining, wellness, and recreation within a single beachfront setting. The property’s scale allows visitors to remain onsite while engaging in activities typically associated with island-style travel, including beach access, pool use, spa visits, and dining with ocean views.

The resort’s location on Key Biscayne positions it as part of the wider Miami tourism region while maintaining a physically separated island environment. This balance allows the destination to serve travelers who prioritize beachfront surroundings without full urban immersion. The redevelopment aligns with sustained interest in resort-style travel experiences that combine privacy, leisure amenities, and proximity to major cities.

Travel Experiences Shaped by Resort-Based Amenities

The resort’s programming continues to support leisure travel through a variety of onsite experiences. Water-based activities, tennis and paddle sports, and poolside leisure options remain integrated into the daily guest experience. Multiple pools, updated cabanas, and beach-access points support varied lengths of stay, from short visits to longer resort-based travel.

Retail spaces operating within the property provide access to fashion, accessories, and wellness-related products, complementing the broader resort experience without requiring offsite travel. These outlets form part of the overall destination offering and align with travel patterns that prioritize convenience and curated retail within resort environments.

Redesigned Guest Rooms and Suite Accommodations

All guest rooms and suites at the resort were updated as part of the redevelopment. The redesigned accommodations incorporate modern furnishings, natural materials, and color palettes referencing the surrounding coastal environment. Floor-to-ceiling windows are featured throughout, providing views of either the Atlantic Ocean or the resort’s landscaped grounds.

Private terraces are included with guest accommodations, allowing outdoor access directly from individual rooms. The resort’s largest accommodation, the Presidential Suite, spans 2,620 square feet and includes two bedrooms, two and a half bathrooms, and a private balcony. This suite represents the most expansive lodging option available on the property following the renovation.

Expanded Dining and Beverage Venues

Several dining and beverage concepts operate across the resort, each positioned within different areas of the property. A beachfront restaurant focuses on seafood-oriented menus inspired by Mediterranean coastal regions, with open-air seating and ocean views. The offering includes shareable dishes and locally sourced seafood prepared using regional influences.

Additional venues include a lobby-based rum-focused bar, a beachfront bar serving drinks and small plates, a poolside pizza venue, and a gelato outlet offering a range of frozen desserts. These outlets support varied dining patterns throughout the day and evening, allowing guests to access food and beverage services across different resort zones without leaving the property.

Wellness Facilities and Spa Programming

A major component of the redevelopment includes the introduction of a 30,000-square-foot spa facility. The Ritz-Carlton Spa, Key Biscayne includes sixteen treatment rooms, couples suites, a salon, and multiple relaxation areas. Outdoor garden spaces with private cabanas are integrated into the spa environment.

Wellness programming incorporates sound-based and sensory-focused treatments, along with daily complimentary meditation sessions offered in the morning and afternoon. Additional spa amenities include dedicated lounges and garden areas designed to support extended wellness visits as part of a resort stay.

Recreational Facilities and Leisure Programming

The resort continues to operate the Cliff Drysdale Tennis Center, which now supports tennis, pickleball, and padel play. Courts are available for a range of skill levels, contributing to the resort’s recreational offering. Water sports, refreshed pools, and beachside activities remain central to the property’s leisure programming.

Together, these facilities reinforce the resort’s role as a travel destination centered on onsite activity, wellness, and beachfront access. The completed redevelopment positions the property to continue serving leisure-focused travel within the Key Biscayne and Miami tourism landscape.
