The Stand Group, operators of The Stand Restaurant & Comedy Club, have revealed plans to launch a sprawling 10,000 square-foot venue in Miami, featuring two levels. This extension of their acclaimed New York City club is set to open later this year. The Italia brothers, Paul and Cris, alongside Patrick Milligan, are set to work with local collaborators on a sequence of pop-up comedy events in Miami as a prelude to the venue’s official launch.

Kicking off these events, Carlos Sánchez, a celebrated figure in Dominican Republic’s stand-up comedy, will headline a show entirely in Spanish. This event is scheduled for Friday, April 12 at the esteemed Manuel Artime Theater, with an exciting lineup of surprise guest appearances.

“I’m thrilled to be partnering with The Stand to produce this amazing live theater performance in Miami,” Sanchez said. “I’ve been lucky enough to cultivate some of the best fans in the world during my time in Miami, and I’m excited to share what will be an epic night of celebration and laughter with my new comedy special, part of our new world tour ‘Middle Age Crisis’.”

This expansion by The Stand into Miami coincides with the city’s burgeoning comedy landscape. The Stand’s New York establishment has been a launchpad for comedy giants such as Dave Chappelle, Bill Burr, and Jim Gaffigan, including Sánchez. It has also been instrumental in the rise of comedians like Pete Davidson, Shane Gillis, Tim Dillon, and Marcello Hernández, who hails from Miami.

“Our goal is to provide Miami – a city saturated with other entertainment options – with a comedy staple they can count on while simultaneously spotlighting the talent that already exists there,” said Paul Italia.
