On this Sunday, one-millionth visitor in 2022 arrived at Ben-Gurion airport, after the coronavirus restrictions entering into Israel were raised on March 1st. She was greeted by the Israel Tourism Minister, Yoel Razbozov and the representatives of the Tourism Ministry.

Belinda Desoyo Lee Marcelo was the honored tourist. She is 53 and hails from the United Arab Emirates. Belinda arrived earlier than what Razbozov had thought about. He said that at first we had imagined that probably US President would be the millionth tourist to enter Israel in 2022. He added that in 2021, the skies of Israel were closed. In the country, there were restrictions in place due to corona with new variants coming every now and then, and created major concern about incoming tourism. In spite of that situation, he said that none of them gave up. All worked hard to revive the industry and finally the sector is back to life regardless of the terrible challenges faced by everyone.

In Israel, tourism indeed seems to be recapturing its pace in a country that profits immensely from the constant spending of the sightseers. In June this year, there were 244,500 tourist entries, as per the Tourism Ministry, it’s just 33% less than the record created back in June 2019.

On the basis of the revival trend in terms of incoming tourism, it’s hoped that up to two million tourists will enter Israel by the end of 2022.
