To grow Puducherry into a sustainable place, a master plan is on its way

The government of Puducherry is working on the groundwork of a Destination Master Plan. This plan targets to alter Puducherry into a responsible and sustainable place in India, while safeguarding the culture, natural assets and heritage of this UT.

Under the Swadesh Darshan scheme 2.0, the Central government of India has taken in Karaikal regions and Puducherry into this destination-based tourism development system. As the project development and management consultant, the central ministry of tourism has chosen L&T together with Price waterhouse Coopers to make Puducherry and Karaikal’s Master Plan.

The consultant will aid the territorial management to set up a plan of action in terms of destination tourism and a DPR for the known components under the scheme of Swadesh Darshan 2.0 As per the Tourism Secretary, Mr. D. Manikandan, the Master Plan will have a viewpoint of 10 years with strategy framework for different verticals of tourism, targeting to develop the U.T. as India’s one of the most well-liked destinations.

The anticipated master plan will have a destination valuation, an appraisal of constitutional and tourism plans, projected strategies and action plans, project operations and a preservation plan.

Mr. Manikandan mentioned that on the basis of the Master Plan, the Union Ministry of Tourism will select four iterations to create the DPR.
