Tourism income grows in Sri Lanka

From the tourism earnings, Sri Lanka has witnessed a major rise with almost 530 million U.S. dollars in the initial three months of 2023, being received by the island, as per the recent information from the central bank of the country.


In March, the island of Sri Lanka earned 198.1 million dollars. This brought tourism earnings to 529.8 million dollars in the first quarter of the year, as per the data. Sri Lanka earned 482.3 million dollars in the first three months of 2022, just from tourism.


Earlier this month of April, an official of tourism said that industry of the island is targeting to draw 2 million visitors this year, compared to the earlier target of 1.5 million. One of the leading foreign exchange earners of Sri Lanka, tourism encountered a major hindrance due to the pandemic along with the financial and political challenges in the country.
