This week, Tourism Ireland, accompanied by 13 tourism enterprises from Ireland and four American tour operators, is embarking on a sales mission to the United States—the first of two such missions planned for this year.
The ‘Best of Ireland’ sales blitz is set to make stops in major U.S. cities including Austin, Dallas, Phoenix, and Denver. The itinerary features a business-to-business (B2B) event in each city, where interactive sessions will highlight Ireland’s appeal, with the Irish companies engaging in numerous meetings with prominent American travel experts. This initiative serves as an important platform to captivate and persuade U.S. travel agents, aiming to secure more visits to Ireland that cover broader regions and extend for longer periods in 2024 and beyond.
Alison Metcalfe, Tourism Ireland’s Head of North America, said: “This week’s ‘Best of Ireland’ sales mission to Austin, Dallas, Phoenix and Denver provides an excellent platform to connect our tourism partners from Ireland with key US travel professionals – to inspire those travel professionals about what the island of Ireland has to offer and, importantly, to encourage them to include the destination in their future programmes and recommend it to their clients. We’ll be shining a spotlight on the many things to see and do, and all that is new and exciting, on a vacation on the island of Ireland in 2024.
“The United States remains an extremely important market for tourism to the island of Ireland – it’s our most important market in terms of revenue and our second-largest market in terms of visitor numbers. Our visitors from the United States tend to stay longer, spend more and tour extensively around our regions.”
The subsequent ‘Best of Ireland’ sales mission by Tourism Ireland is scheduled to cover Cleveland, Cincinnati, Minneapolis-St Paul, and Chicago in April.
