Tourism surges almost 27% in Hillsborough County

This year, tourism surged almost 27% in Hillsborough County; however, industry professionals are doubtful whether the strong travel sector will sustain for the rest of 2023 and next year as well.

Nevertheless, Santiago Corrada, the CEO of Visit Tampa Bay, the tourism advertising agency of the countyrecapped the Hillsborough Tourist Development Council that they haveresisted national inclinationstime and again.

The dialoguehappened with the Tourist Development Council, aconsultativepanel to the Hillsborough County Commission, trying toevaluate budget developmentfor the coming two years. It also reduced the rosy presentations from Corrada and Ron Barton, the assistant county manager for financialsuccess, regarding the sector’spresentsuccess.

During theinitial five months of the economic year, Hillsborough County tourist collections of tax reached almost $26 million, marking an increase of almost 27% compared to the times last year.

Santiago said that as per data from the first part of the financial year beginning Oct. 1, 2022, hotel possession rates stood at 74.3% compared to 69% a year before. The usualeverydaydegree of $153 and the income per vacant room also surpassed the numbers of last year by substantialquantities. The possessiondegrees for the initial months of the second quarter surpassed 80%, saidSantiago.
