Comptroller Phil Diamond revealed the tourist development tax numbers for Orange County for July.
Diamond clarified that they dropped year-over-year for the fourth consecutive month and considers that the severe heat might have played a great influence this summer.
Diamond said that there is a lot of assumption regarding that. He said that a part of it is that it
became so warm during July, and a lot of people might have said that it is so scorching and why don’t they delay this? Why doesn’t it happen when it cools down a little bit?
Collections for July this year stood at $27,171,100, marking a 5.2% reduction equated to July last year.
Residence at hotels in the area witnessed 73.8% down 4.0% year-over-year.
Diamond elucidated in the course of last summer, Orange County witnessed a robust demand motivated
by revenge travel.
The Orange County Convention Center witnessed an upsurge in the amount of groups with 19 happenings in July this year equated to 13 happenings in July last year.
Diamond said that he thinks that they need responsiveness to the inclination. The inclination is the
TDT levy has dropped four months in succession now.
TDT collections for August would be revealed in October.
