Travelex strengthens leadership team with global retail director to boost market growth

Travelex, a prominent foreign exchange brand, has named Jackie Uhi as its Global Retail Director to lead the company’s retail growth and international expansion. Uhi, previously with HSBC, will oversee strategy, delivery, expansion, and innovation for Travelex’s retail portfolio, comprising 1,100 stores and 900 ATMs across 20+ countries.

Uhi, who is originally from Australia, has over thirty years of experience working at senior levels in retail banking in the UK and APAC, with a focus on operations and strategic leadership. She worked as a director at Barclays, Lloyds, and ANZ, the biggest institutional bank in Australia, before joining HSBC.

With the strategic goal of expanding its global distribution network and optimizing customer convenience and value, Travelex has appointed Uhi at the same time that it is expanding its global retail footprint and transforming its retail product offering of cash and card solutions.

In the last year, Travelex has expanded its global presence by opening numerous new stores, generating over 1,200 jobs. The company has introduced innovative retail solutions such as the FX industry’s first ATM click-and-collect service in the UK and Australia, as well as an automated currency kiosk at Heathrow Airport.

In a Senior Leadership restructuring, Cameron Hume has transitioned to the role of Global Wholesale Director at Travelex. Hume, formerly the Chief Commercial Officer and Managing Director for Asia-Pacific, brings nearly 16 years of experience to his new position.

His key focus will be on enhancing Travelex’s partnerships with Asian banks and clients worldwide, particularly in the provision of wholesale banknotes.

Richard Wazacz, The Travelex CEO expressed delight in appointing Jackie Uhi to the newly created position of Global Retail Director, praising her expertise. He said, “Jackie is a seasoned leader in the retail banking and distribution space, and she joins at a time of increased investment, expansion and innovation in our retail operations.”
