Turismo de Portugal to increase support to regional tourism entities by 20%

According to Nuno Fazenda, Secretary of State for Tourism, Commerce, and Services, Turismo de Portugal would expand its funding for regional tourism entities by 20%.

It was a decision they already made and that he noted to the president of Turismo de Portugal so that there is a 20% increase in the support of Turismo de Portugal for regional tourism entities, said Nuno Fazenda.

According to the member of the Government, it is important to give more voice, more strength and more resources to the regions, recognizing that they can go “further” in financing regional entities.

The Secretary of State for Tourism reacted to Raul Almeida, who justified a budget update for regional bodies in his inaugural speech.

Nuno Fazenda believed that regions play a fundamental role in tourism, and that they play an important role in affirming their territories.

During his address, the government official stated that tourism continues to produce historic results in the nation, noting that the first half of 2023 was the best semester ever in the history of tourism, with an increase in both overnight stays and visitor earnings.

He did, however, mention certain issues, such as a manpower shortage in the field.

According to the Secretary of State, more effort must be made to progress in this direction, pointing to the use of foreign workers to remedy the problem.
