In a strategic effort to foster a stronger bond between Seychelles and Turkey and to identify new opportunities within the tourism sector, a high-ranking team from the Seychelles Tourism Department initiated a pivotal visit to Istanbul, Turkey. This visit was marked by an essential meeting on Thursday, March 14th, with officials from Turkish Airlines.
Leading the delegation was Sylvestre Radegonde, Minister for Foreign Affairs and Tourism, joined by Sherin Francis, Principal Secretary for Tourism, and Bernadette Willemin, Director General for Destination Marketing. The group from Seychelles engaged in discussions with Bilal Eksi, CEO of Turkish Airlines, and his team, which included Ozlem Salihoglu, Senior Vice President of International Relations and Alliances, and Hikmet Turkseven, Vice President of Sales.
The agenda of the meeting revolved around enhancing airline route efficiency, boosting connectivity, refining marketing approaches, forging joint tourism ventures, and advocating for eco-friendly tourism initiatives.
Minister Radegonde expressed his optimism about the meeting’s outcomes, remarking, “This was important to strengthen Seychelles-Turkey ties in tourism. We are confident that the discussions and collaboration with Turkish Airlines will enrich the overall travel experience for our potential and returning visitors.”
The Turkish Airlines representatives also emphasized their commitment to deepening their partnership with Tourism Seychelles. Both sides were excited about the prospective increase in tourist flow and the economic advantages this cooperation could bring to both Seychelles and Turkey.
Additionally, while in Turkey, the Seychelles delegation explored the newly opened Galataport cruise ship terminal in Istanbul, a facility celebrated for its outstanding cruise operation capabilities.
Currently, Turkish Airlines offers three weekly flights to Seychelles through its Istanbul hub, ensuring smooth travel for visitors.
