As the 13th edition of the MICE India & Luxury Travel (MILT) Congress approaches, the spotlight is firmly on the evolving future of business events and premium travel. Scheduled to take place on 23–24 July 2026 at ITC Grand Goa, a Luxury Collection Resort & Spa, the prestigious gathering will bring together influential corporate travel buyers, luxury hospitality leaders, tourism organisations and industry experts from across the world.

The event is expected to reinforce a major industry transformation — where successful MICE and luxury travel strategies are no longer built only around bookings and commercial exchanges. Instead, the sector is increasingly being shaped by personalised experiences, stronger relationships, trusted collaborations and partnerships that create long-term value.

Featuring more than 150 prominent Indian corporate buyers alongside over 40 international travel, tourism and hospitality brands, the MILT Congress remains a leading B2B platform for understanding emerging trends influencing India’s outbound corporate travel and luxury tourism markets.

Ahead of the congress, participating speakers and industry partners have identified five key developments that are redefining the future direction of MICE and luxury travel.

Purpose-Driven Destination Experiences Redefine Luxury Travel

Modern travellers are increasingly seeking destinations that offer deeper connections, authentic experiences and meaningful engagement beyond traditional sightseeing. As expectations continue to rise, destinations are focusing on creativity, cultural relevance and strategic collaborations to stand out in an increasingly competitive global market.

For the MICE and luxury travel sectors, destinations that successfully combine unique local experiences with seamless services are gaining greater appeal among corporate planners and premium travellers. The focus is shifting towards creating memorable journeys that reflect local identity while delivering world-class standards.

This changing demand is encouraging tourism boards, hotels and experience providers to develop innovative offerings that connect travellers with communities, culture, nature and exclusive moments. Authenticity, flexibility and personalised experiences are becoming essential elements in attracting high-value travellers and corporate groups.

Sahl Dudin, Managing Director of Ayla Oasis, believes destinations must stand apart through authentic cultural engagement, describing Ayla as “a unique destination offering a diverse range of experiences, enriched by a distinctive blend of local authenticity and cultural engagement.” He further adds “Jordan’s rich culture and diversity make it a truly distinctive destination, and we believe Jordanians are uniquely positioned to deliver authentic and meaningful experiences. As a result, we place strong emphasis on the human touch and local authenticity to create memorable journeys that resonate with modern travelers.”

Udit Mathur, Deputy General Manager – Business Promotion, Corporate Planning Division at JTB Asia Pacific Headquarters, reflects on the industry’s changing dynamics, noting that “one of the most important shifts we are making is moving from being an execution partner to becoming a strategic solutions provider,”

Emre Aktas, Assistant Director of Sales at Baku Boulevard Hotel Company, observes that “perhaps the biggest shift has been from purchasing a product to investing in an experience,” and Elman Mammadov, Head of Business Events at Azerbaijan Tourism Board, adds that destinations must combine world-class infrastructure with authentic experiences, positioning Azerbaijan as an ideal choice for the evolving expectations of Indian travellers.

Experience Over Execution

The industry is shifting away from simply delivering flawless events and moving towards designing meaningful, personalised experiences that create lasting value. The focus is now on developing event journeys that connect with audiences, support strategic objectives and deliver measurable outcomes for businesses.

Anjali Chugh, Assistant Vice President – Marketing & Brand Experience at Nuvama Group, believes “every touchpoint today must be more personalised, measurable and aligned with business objectives”, while Kaival Patel, Founder & Managing Director of Absolute Group of Companies and Advisory Board Member at MILT Congress, says “experience-led journeys, authenticity and flawless execution have become the new benchmarks of value”. Sunil Sharma, Corporate Administrative Support Services Head at Ancalima& BION, adds that “memorable journeys are those that align organisational values with individual experiences, creating stronger engagement”.

Technology is Transforming Travel Without Replacing Human Connection

Digital innovation and artificial intelligence are reshaping the travel landscape by creating smarter, more personalised experiences while helping businesses deliver enhanced value to modern travellers.

According to insights shared by Booking.com, Indian travellers are increasingly blending professional and leisure journeys, with a growing number planning to extend business trips into leisure experiences. The adoption of artificial intelligence is also becoming a major part of travel planning, as travellers look for faster, more customised and efficient ways to discover destinations and manage their journeys.

The hospitality sector is also witnessing a major technology-driven transformation. Brennia Kottefaru in the Maldives is introducing a new mobile application as part of its “Tech, AI & Green Initiative”, reflecting the growing importance of digital convenience, sustainability and personalised guest engagement. Today’s Indian traveller is increasingly seeking value-focused luxury, where meaningful experiences, seamless communication and smart services hold greater importance than traditional luxury offerings alone.

Luxury Is Evolving Into A More Purposeful Experience

Modern luxury travel is moving beyond grand displays of wealth and exclusivity. Travellers are now searching for authenticity, personal connections and experiences that create lasting emotional value.

The future of luxury lies in combining advanced technology with human warmth, allowing brands to deliver personalised journeys that feel effortless, meaningful and memorable.

According to Devanshi Patel, Founder of Shreem Events, “today’s luxury lies in immersive experiences that feel personal and purposeful”, while Kalpesh Bhutta, Founder & Principal Consultant of Harmony Tours, observes that “discerning travellers now prioritise memorable experiences before comfort and logistics”.

Trust Emerges as the Defining Factor in Modern Travel

As travellers and businesses place greater emphasis on safety, transparency and dependable experiences, trust has emerged as a critical element shaping the future of the travel industry. Exceptional service alone is no longer enough; confidence, credibility and reliability have become equally important in influencing traveller decisions.

Rekha Gairola, Director – Global Safety & Security at Adobe, highlights that the industry is undergoing a major transformation, shifting its focus from simply creating memorable experiences to building experiences that travellers can fully trust. This growing focus on confidence and assurance is becoming a fundamental part of the modern traveller journey.

Bringing together insights from corporate travel leaders, event specialists, international hospitality groups and destination organisations, the vision behind MILT Congress reflects a changing landscape where India’s MICE and luxury travel buyers are increasingly looking for strategic partners who can offer innovation, customised solutions and sustainable business growth.

With more than 2,000 scheduled one-to-one business meetings planned at ITC Grand Goa on 23–24 July 2026, the 13th Annual MILT Congress, supported by Sands Resorts Macao as Platinum Partner and Discover Moscow as Destination Partner, continues to strengthen its position as a premier marketplace for meaningful partnerships, commercial opportunities and future-focused discussions across the MICE and luxury travel sectors.
