UTB tries to introduce direct flight services

The Uganda Tourism Board is currently in discussion with the Immigration Department in terms of permitting international tourists to fly to the tourism destinations directly.


According to the Uganda Tourism Board, which is entrusted with the responsibility of marketing the Uganda to other countries as well, the decision will save time and money of the tourists while making transit seamless. At present, all international flights have to land at Entebbe International Airport first to get the clearance to enter the country and continuing on to their other destinations.


The chief executive Officer of UTB, Lilly Ajarova, said the new planning, if allowed will help the tourists to reach their destinations without any hindrance and more conveniently.


Ajarova also added by saying that she has received many complaints so far, mainly from regional tour guides, who asserted that the interruptions have cost them a lot of money as well as time.


The tendency in terms international travel has changed a lot. At present, people want to travel light to discover as much as they can in a specific amount of time. 


Their air connectivity experienced several difficulties. Air connectivity is vital if they are to make important development in increasing tourist numbers to the nation and the income from tourism, according to Ajarova.
