Ver.di announces strike Hamburg Airport security checkpoint closed, passenger departures halted

The labor union ver.di has issued a strike notice for airport security checkpoint staff, set to commence on Thursday, March 14, 2024. Hamburg Airport will be among the affected locations. Consequently, the main security checkpoint will be non-operational throughout Thursday due to the ver.di strike. As a result, all 141 scheduled departures for Thursday will either be canceled or operate without passengers. Passengers should anticipate flight cancellations and delays for arrivals as well. Arrivals are anticipated to proceed on Thursday. However, travelers should be aware that Hamburg Airport may experience flight cancellations and notable arrival delays throughout the day due to the ongoing ver.di strike.

Originally, Hamburg Airport had planned 286 flights (141 departures and 145 arrivals) accommodating approximately 40,000 passengers for Thursday, March 14, 2024.
