British travel trade and industry suppliers will showcase Britain as a must-visit destination during VisitBritain‘s first trade mission to India in over three years. The event, Destination Britain India, will occur from 19 to 21 November in Delhi, featuring dozens of British suppliers engaging with 75 top buyers from India. The event will facilitate thousands of pre-scheduled one-to-one business meetings covering hotels, retailers, attractions, tour operators, transport providers, and local destinations across Britain.
VisitBritain CEO Patricia Yates expressed delight in hosting the flagship trade event in India, emphasizing its timely and valuable nature. The event provides British tourism suppliers and destinations with a significant opportunity to showcase their products to top buyers, ultimately driving bookings to Britain.
She said, “India is one of our most important inbound visitor markets, also boasting strong airline connectivity including to regional destinations and we know there is pent up demand for travel. Working with the travel trade in India is crucial to ensuring they are ready to sell Britain, as well as broadening travel itineraries to encourage visitors to explore further and stay longer.”
Delegates at the Destination Britain India trade event will have the chance to engage with the broader Indian trade through networking receptions. Additionally, they can attend product seminars featuring insights from organizations like West Midlands Growth Company, Marketing Manchester, and Visit Cumbria, providing updates on market developments and trends. VisitBritain will showcase its ‘See Things Differently’ campaign, promoting diverse and exciting experiences in Britain, encouraging visitors to explore different seasons and inspiring them to visit now.
In 2022, visitors from India spent a record £764 million in the UK, surpassing 2019 levels by 2%, and this growth trend has extended into 2023. The forecast indicates that India will become a £1 billion inbound visitor market for the UK by 2024, solidifying its position as one of the UK’s fastest-growing major tourism markets. The recovery and growth are also reflected in airline seat capacity from India to the UK, with a 53% increase in September 2023 compared to the same month in 2019. VisitBritain is actively collaborating with industry and partners to promote Britain’s exceptional tourism offerings and unique experiences.
