West Java government asks tourism envoys to uphold tourism in ASEAN

The West Java local administration asked tourism ambassadors or Smiling West Java (SWJ) ambassadors for upholding tourism of the province in the ASEAN countries.

The tourism segment is an important motivator of the economy of West Java, said Benny Bachtiar, the chief of the West Java Tourism and Culture Office.

The retrieval in tourism has authenticated that West Java’s economy is all set to recover in the course of the period after the pandemic.

The West Java local administration has initiated the SWJ Ambassador program for encouraging the tourism division.

The envoys involve social media activists as well as content creators who are considered to surge the
amount of tourist arrivals and recover tourism in West Java.

This year, as much as 1 thousand content creators from 27 cities and regions in West Java cleared the
assessment to own the SWJ Ambassador title.

Bachtiar said that they assume that their content can turn into an instrument for boosting tourism and
culture in their particular areas to the public, comprising citizens of the ASEAN. This is due to the
reason that social media’s influence is limitless.

In the meantime, the inaugural of a non-stop flight itinerary from Kuala Lumpur to Kertajati has become
the impetus to reinforce collaboration in tourism with countries in the ASEAN, mainly Malaysia.
