On January 19, the highly anticipated West Monroe Sports & Events Center celebrated its grand opening, marking its official commencement of operations. Over 200 enthusiastic local attendees gathered to witness the unveiling of the new sports complex, which is designed to enhance the physical and mental well-being of residents while also attracting top-tier youth sporting events and regional tournaments to West Monroe.
The momentous event commenced with a ribbon-cutting ceremony in collaboration with Origin Bank, the facility’s title sponsor. Notable speakers, including West Monroe Mayor Staci Mitchell, representatives from project partners Discover Monroe-West Monroe and the Ouachita Parish Police Jury, and Sports Facilities Companies Executive Vice President Mike Kelly, shared remarks with the arriving guests. Following the ribbon-cutting, attendees had the opportunity to explore the state-of-the-art venue during its inaugural tour. The day concluded with a public open house from 6-8 pm, providing an exciting and free community event for all ages.

As the newest hub for large indoor sports tournaments and events in northeastern Louisiana, the facility boasts eight full-size maple wood basketball courts that can be converted into 16 volleyball or 24 pickleball courts. Premier amenities, including an open-air mezzanine, multipurpose rooms, meeting spaces, and concessions, set the venue apart. Additionally, plans for an adjoining hotel connected by a covered corridor aim to provide a “stay and play” experience. With its strategic location near Interstate 20 and a blend of southern charm and hospitality, West Monroe Sports & Events is poised to become a prominent player among America’s sports and events centers.
