Whistler Changemakers: Tourism Whistler Launches Video Series On Local Businesses

Tourism Whistler has recently introduced a new video series called “Whistler Changemakers,” highlighting businesses in Whistler that prioritize sustainability. It is hosted by local professional skier and ardent environmentalist Mike Douglas, and examines a range of subjects, including emissions tracking, supply chain best practices, and the spillover effects of sustainability education.

Barrett Fisher, President & CEO of Tourism Whistler says that with the Whistler Changemakers video series, they hope to both motivate nearby companies to adopt more environmentally friendly procedures and inform tourists on how they can live more sustainably while visiting Whistler.

The Resort Municipality of Whistler (RMOW) is the driving force behind Whistler’s Big Moves Strategy, which specifies the resort’s long-term goal of net-zero emissions and targets a 50% decrease of emissions from 2007 levels by 2030.

To attain this objective, Whistler is collaborating with residents, businesses, and visitors. The focus is on promoting active transportation, minimizing emissions from visitor travel, transitioning to cleaner passenger and commercial vehicles, lowering building emissions, and fostering a shift towards reduced overall carbon consumption.

Tourism Whistler will keep telling the tales of local people, companies, and organizations who are making an effort to protect the environment and sustainably benefit the Whistler community during the coming year. The development of responsible, sustainable, and regenerative tourism is one of the organization’s main areas of interest.
