Wizz Air has unveiled an exclusive guide detailing Europe’s top 20 beach locales for individuals seeking solitude. This compilation factors in various elements such as the nation’s safety ratings and precipitation levels. In their quest to provide a serene beach experience for solo travelers, the budget-friendly airline considered numerous criteria, including the extent of a country’s coastline, its weather patterns, safety statistics, and even the proportion of single individuals within the population. Additionally, they analyzed the frequency of Instagram tags related to solitary adventures in each destination.

“The combination of factors we were looking at means that we have created a really comprehensive list of gorgeous destinations where you can enjoy a carefree and relaxing solo date by the beach. The list combines the expected sunny showstoppers such as Italy, Spain and Greece (all in the top 10) with some countries whose beaches are not so well known. Albania, Poland, Lithuania and the Netherlands all feature in our top 20, and have some real hidden gems along the coast for travellers to discover.

“Beaches have so much to offer. In our research we discovered stretches of coastline that are on the edge of national parks like Nida Beach in Lithuania, on the Curonian Spit. Albania’s Dhërmi Beach has dreamy white sand, but also some incredible, dramatic rock formations. Whether you want to find a little bit of peace or an adventure, we’re sure there will be something in our list to tempt you.”

Wizz Air’s freshly curated list showcases the crème de la crème of beach destinations for solo adventurers.

Finland: Crowned the world’s happiest nation for the sixth consecutive year by the World Happiness Report, Finland boasts 314,000 km of coastline, offering a myriad of beach exploration opportunities. Yyteri, located in the southwest, is renowned as one of the country’s most picturesque beaches.

Norway: With its extensive coastline of 100,915 km, including islands, Norway promises delightful summer swims in seas that can warm up to 21 degrees. A paradise for nature enthusiasts, the Norwegian shores are home to puffins, whales, and seals.

UK: The UK’s 31,368 km of coastline offers a variety of scenic spots, from Cornwall to the Shetland Isles, to the Welsh locales of Anglesey and Aberystwyth. It’s also a hotspot for solo travelers on Instagram, garnering 163 posts.

Greece: Greece’s 13,676 km of coastlines are dotted with stunning beaches on both the mainland and its islands. The country is a popular solo travel choice on Instagram, with 103 tags, and enjoys a low annual rainfall of just 65.2 cm.

Italy: Italy, leading with 1031 solo traveler tags on Instagram, has a coastline of 7,900 km. The country is famous for its beautiful beaches in regions like Puglia, Sardinia, and Tuscany.

Spain: With 8,000 km of coast, Spain is celebrated for its sun-drenched beaches, particularly in Barcelona, where beach life meets urban culture. It boasts a low yearly precipitation of 63.6 cm.

Denmark: Denmark’s 7,300 km long coastline, especially on Jutland’s west, is lined with popular beaches. The country is noted for its low crime rate and high single population percentage.

France: Known for the French Riviera, France’s 5,500 km of coastline also hides many lesser-known gems. With 41.7% of its population being single, it’s a welcoming spot for solo visitors.

Iceland: Offering breathtaking views along its 4,970 km of coast, Iceland is a favored destination on Instagram for solo travelers, with 228 related posts.

Estonia: Estonia, with a 3,794 km coastline, is perfect for beach lovers. The capital, Tallinn, is compact and close to Pirita Beach, ideal for single visitors seeking tranquility.

Just beyond the top 10, Germany, Ireland, Sweden, Portugal, and Croatia followed closely, with Poland, Latvia, the Netherlands, Albania, and Lithuania completing the top 20.
