The East Lancashire Railway is set to host an event featuring the whimsical world of Alice in Wonderland, drawing in families to explore the odd and marvelous characters of this classic tale. Scheduled for April 11th, this event is poised to captivate both children and adults with the fantastical denizens of Wonderland.
The highlight of this family-oriented day is a magical journey across the picturesque landscapes of the Irwell Valley, traveling from Bury to Rawtenstall and back, on a genuine steam-powered train. Attendees embarking on this approximately two-hour trip can look forward to an enchanting experience filled with vibrant characters, themed activities, and ample opportunities for memorable photographs.
Following the train ride, guests, both young and old, are invited to delve further into the adventure by visiting the Bury Transport Museum, conveniently situated a short distance from the Bury Bolton Street Station and included within the event’s ticket cost.
Refreshments and snacks will be accessible for purchase at the café on Platform 3/4 at the Bury Bolton Street Station and the Rawtenstall Buffet.
Mike Kelly, the Chairman of the East Lancashire Railway, shared his enthusiasm about bringing the beloved characters from Wonderland to the railway, expressing that it would offer a nostalgic and unforgettable experience for both children and adults. He emphasized that the East Lancashire Railway, with its scenic backdrop of the Irwell Valley and its impressive trains and locomotives, provides an ideal setting for this fantastical journey. Kelly advised that tickets are selling quickly and encouraged families interested in witnessing fairy tales spring to life to secure their bookings promptly.
