The WTTC has emphasized the significance of the participation of women in tourism at the Women Deliver Conference organized in Kigali, Rwanda.

As per the global tourism committee, in workforce, women comprise 54 percent. And as tourism offers available opportunities for women, it encounters disparities as well like low pay and security related to jobs. The pandemic has caused loss of 62 million jobs in tourism sector; most of these workforces were females.

The event acted as a stage to talk about the tough things that are faced by women in tourism sector, discover strategies to conquer them, and ways to motivate change and encourage equal opportunities for women. Also, the conference highlighted the key importance of programs related to mentorship for young women to let loose their possibilities for financial transformation via opportunities, networking and resources.

Panel discussions also aimed on the disputes experienced by women in different business aspects like obstructions to entry, operational impediments, and limitations of ecosystem.

Julia Simpson, WTTC President & CEO, while addressing in conference said that it is established that companies in their leadership which have 50% women make more money.

This makes things even more sensible in travel and tourism where women make the decisions what to buy and where to go on a vacation.
