Wyndham Seals Game-Changing Deal with Cygnett to Unveil La Quinta’s Bold Debut in India – New Update You Need To Know

Published on July 14, 2025

Wyndham Hotels & Resorts has completed an audacious deal in South Asia through the announcement of a strategic partnership with India’s Cygnett Hotels & Resorts. The agreement introduces two of the world’s most iconic brands—La Quinta® by Wyndham and Registry Collection Hotels®—to the Indian subcontinent. They aim to open more than 60 hotels in India, Nepal, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka over the next decade. Many of South Asia’s most rapidly-growing markets are experiencing tremendous travel demand, making this alliance between two leading midscale and luxury hospitality companies the perfect marriage to capitalize on this trend.

A Power Cartel of Speedy Growth

“Great to see Wyndham’s runner-up La Quinta leading the way in terms of development as the brand’s 10-year exclusive agreement with Cygnett for development and operations rights across India, Nepal, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka will help ensure their continued growth.” With more than 900 destinations in the Americas and a world of welcoming comforts, La Quinta serves as the ideal home base for business and leisure travelers in the upper midscale segment.

This alliance will see more than 50 La Quinta hotels launched. These will be a combination of new builds and intelligent conversions, it is anticipated the first hotels to open will be by the end of 2026.” For Wyndham, it also not just an expansion but also a stronger statement to cater to the burgeoning domestic and regional tourism market of India.

Luxury Erupts with Registry Collection Hotels

In addition to La Quinta, Wyndham is bringing its luxury Registry Collection Hotels brand to India in a separate, non-exclusive 10-year development agreement with Cygnett. Ten luxury properties will be co-branded with Cygnett’s recently launched 5-star brand, Anamore. These top-tier hotels seek to import boutique ambiance, local flavor and luxury to carefully chosen locations.

The Registry Collection Hotels is offered in over 30 high-quality destinations around the world. In India, they will take the boutique luxury experience to another level with an undeniably South Asian twist. The inaugural Registry Collection–Anamore co-branded resort is projected to open as soon as 2026.

Why Now? India’s Travel Boom Fuels Growth

The hospitality landscape in India is changing faster than the speed of light. Domestic travel spending inched over hundreds of billions in recent years, and leisure travel grows at a double-digit pace each year. This increase is being fuelled by an expanding middle class, growing infrastructure and a surge in outgoing and regional travel.

Wyndham’s announcement comes at an opportune moment. Having more than 70 properties already open in the region — with brands including Ramada, Howard Johnson and Wyndham Garden — the company is well poised to expand. This tie-up with Cygnett adds further strength to Wyndham’s mission of catering to changing travel needs of South Asia.

The Wyndham Edge: Tech + Reach

Wyndham isn’t just dropping names — it’s bringing a powerful platform for success. Bolstered in part by nearly $350 million in tech investment dollars going back to 2018, Wyndham Advantage provides the tools hotel owners need to take advantage of state-of-the-art property management systems and marketing tools. Through a network of more than 115 million Wyndham Rewards members in nearly 90 countries, paired with a global reach of more than 9,000 hotels, the partnership boasts powerful distribution, brand recognition, and operational support.

This results in quicker return on investment for hotel owners, and a seamless, premium experience for guests whether they’re booking and checking into a midscale La Quinta or a luxurious Registry Collection property.

Cygnett; Local Strength with Global Reach

Cygnett Hotels & Resorts, a rapidly expanding Indian hospitality company, offers strong local knowledge and a robust development pipeline. In teaming up with Wyndham, it can leverage a global brand system, while bringing home-grown understanding and operational know-how. The merger is expected to turbocharge the success of both brands in the region.

For guests this translates to more variety, better service and the assurance of internationally benchmarked hospitality standards in new and exciting gateways, whether in fast-growing city centers or in much sought-after leisure destinations.

Conclusion: A New Story of Wyndham in South Asia

Wyndham’s alliance with Cygnett is about more than a deal — it’s a statement. The company is doubling down on the return of travel in South Asia with a strategy that mixes scale, ingenuity and the market-savviness of its collaborator. As La Quinta and Registry Collection Hotels mark their regional arrival, which resonates across India, Nepal, Bangladesh, and Sri Lanka, travelers can expect new age hospitality anchored in comfort, style and most importantly great experiences.

With more than 60 new hotels in the development pipeline and further growth anticipated, this partnership paves the way for Wyndham’s distinctive growth in one of the vibrant travel markets worldwide.
