Hotels are progressing from room-centric services to the mobile-led journeys, with technology at the heart of the experience. At ATM 2026, Praveen Paul, Vice President (MEA), Agilysys explains how the right connected hospitality technology can aid in truly understanding customers.
In an interview with Travel And Tour World, Paul said, “Many hotels can find it difficult to manage information about the guest using different systems. Operating on an integrated technology ecosystem enables hotels to develop a better picture of the guest across all of their interactions with food, beverage and wellness.”
“Most hotels can recall little more than a room booking, but by combining hotel data, we will enable hotels to recollect the entire guest experience,” he said.

ATM 2026 Provides Strong Platform for Agilysys to Connect With Hospitality Industry

Paul described the response at ATM 2026 as highly positive for Agilysys, despite uncertainty caused by regional circumstances and changes surrounding the event schedule.

He explained that the company attended the event primarily as a branding opportunity, as Agilysys is still building its presence in the Middle East market. The event allowed the company to interact directly with hotel operators, technology partners and industry stakeholders.

According to Paul, the strong visitor engagement provided an opportunity for the company to increase awareness among hotels and establish new industry connections.

He added that ATM created a platform where hospitality businesses and technology providers could meet in one place, helping companies strengthen relationships and discuss future opportunities.

Unified Hospitality Technology Moves Hotels Beyond Fragmented Systems

Paul highlighted that the modern hotel experience is no longer limited to providing accommodation. He explained that hotels now need to consider multiple revenue areas, including food and beverage, wellness and other guest activities.

According to him, a unified technology ecosystem enables hotels to look at the guest experience as a complete journey rather than as separate services.

He explained that room revenue represents only one part of the overall hospitality business. By connecting different operational areas, hotels can gain a wider view of guest preferences and identify opportunities to enhance services.

Paul said that a connected technology approach helps operators understand how guests interact with different facilities within a property and use that information to create more personalised stays.

Agilysys Focuses on Hyper-Personalisation Through Connected Guest Profiles

A major focus of Paul’s discussion was the role of guest profiles in creating personalised hotel experiences.

He explained that Agilysys provides hotel operators with a unified perspective of guests by collecting information across different revenue centres within a property.

For example, guest interactions with dining facilities, spas or other hotel activities can contribute to a broader understanding of individual preferences. Paul said that when this information is connected through one system, hotels can better personalise future experiences.

He noted that artificial intelligence has increased the importance of data within the hospitality sector. According to Paul, understanding guest preferences through connected systems can help hotels provide more relevant services.

He contrasted this approach with fragmented technology environments where separate platforms may struggle to communicate effectively with each other.

Middle East Hotels Need Technology Systems That Communicate Better

Discussing the regional hospitality market, Paul said that while cities such as Dubai have experienced significant growth, hotel technology infrastructure still has room to develop.

He explained that better communication between technology systems will be important for hotels seeking to improve guest services.

According to Paul, connected platforms allow hotels to create a more complete picture of their guests and respond more effectively to their needs.

He emphasised that the hospitality industry is moving towards systems where different operational areas can work together rather than operating independently.

Agilysys Builds Brand Presence Across the Middle East Hospitality Market

Paul explained that Agilysys is currently focused on expanding its recognition among hotels in the Middle East.

He said the company has a growing brand presence in the region and that participating in events such as ATM 2026 helps create direct engagement with potential customers and industry partners.

The event also provided opportunities to meet technology partners that collaborate within the wider hospitality ecosystem.

Paul highlighted that face-to-face meetings remain valuable for building relationships, particularly in an industry where technology providers and hotel operators need to understand each other’s requirements.

He said the energy and participation at ATM demonstrated the industry’s interest in reconnecting and exploring new opportunities following a period of uncertainty.

Technology Becomes Central to the Future of Hotel Guest Experiences

During the ATM 2026 panel, it was raised that hospitality tech is playing an ever-greater role as hotels look to provide a more integrated and personalised experience.

According to Paul, who cites Agilysys’ philosophy, the approach is aimed at fusing diverse hotel operations under a common technology roof.

Linking guest data across different services, hotels will be able to get closer to their visitors and offer them an experience that transcends simply putting them up. As Middle East hospitality destinations develop further, technology solutions facilitating enhanced dialogue between hotel operations and guest services are likely to have an important part to play in the future of travel.
