Reservations have officially opened for Vestige Xaudum, a new luxury safari lodge in Namibia that will welcome its first guests on 15 March 2027. Located deep inside Khaudum National Park in northern Namibia, the six-suite retreat represents a major milestone for Vestige Collection as its first destination outside Spain. It will also become the first of four exclusive lodges planned for the upcoming Vestige Namibia circuit, designed to showcase some of the country’s most extraordinary and untouched natural environments.

Positioned on top of a Kalahari sand dune with sweeping views across an ancient fossil riverbed, Vestige Xaudum will hold a unique position as the only lodge operating within Khaudum National Park. The remote wilderness area receives fewer than 3,000 visitors annually, creating an exceptional setting where guests can enjoy rare tranquillity, wide-open landscapes and an authentic connection with nature.

Spanning more than 3,800 square kilometres, Khaudum National Park forms part of the wider Kavango–Zambezi Transfrontier Conservation Area (KAZA), one of the world’s largest conservation landscapes. The protected region allows wildlife to move freely between Namibia and neighbouring Botswana. It is particularly known for its large elephant populations and its important habitat for endangered African wild dogs. Visitors may also encounter lions, leopards, cheetahs, roan antelopes and hundreds of bird species, with more than 300 recorded varieties adding to the park’s rich biodiversity.

A New Vision for Luxury Safari Architecture

The architecture and interiors of Vestige Xaudum have been developed by Vestige Estudio, the collection’s dedicated design studio. The team has transformed the original concept by expanding the suites and creating a completely redesigned main lodge that blends modern luxury with the surrounding wilderness.

The lodge’s design follows the natural character of the Kalahari landscape, featuring strong sculptural structures, organic forms and carefully framed views of the ancient riverbed. Natural materials and earthy tones inspired by the desert environment create a seamless connection between the contemporary interiors and the wild landscape outside.

Local craftsmanship plays a central role in the lodge’s identity. Materials have been sourced from nearby communities, including thatch collected from villages surrounding Khaudum. Local artisans and skilled builders have contributed significantly to the construction process, bringing traditional knowledge and regional craftsmanship into the lodge’s modern design.

With only six suites, Vestige Xaudum focuses on privacy, comfort and personalised experiences. Five one-bedroom suites provide generous indoor and outdoor spaces, while the exclusive two-bedroom suite features four private decks and its own plunge pool. Guests will also have access to shared areas designed for relaxation and connection, including dining spaces, a spa, an outdoor fitness area and a 78-square-metre swimming pool overlooking the surrounding wilderness.

Dining at Vestige Xaudum will celebrate Namibia’s natural flavours through a relaxed culinary experience inspired by the region. Fresh ingredients and locally sourced meat will form an important part of the menu, while cooking over open flames will bring the traditional spit-braai style into the heart of the guest experience. The signature six-course dinner will combine individually prepared dishes with a shared family-style main course, allowing guests to choose between private dining or social meals across indoor and outdoor settings.

Safari Experiences Guided by Nature

At Vestige Xaudum, every safari experience will be shaped by the rhythm of the wilderness rather than a strict schedule. Private guides and specially designed vehicles will allow guests to follow wildlife activity and adapt their journeys according to daily discoveries.

A sighting of lions nearby may change the route of a morning drive, while an elephant herd or a rare bird encounter may inspire guests to spend more time observing the surrounding environment. This flexible approach aims to create a deeper and more meaningful connection with the landscape.

Beyond traditional game drives, guests will be able to enjoy bush breakfasts, guided walking experiences outside the national park and evening stargazing sessions. These activities will provide insights into the wildlife, ecosystems and cultural traditions of northern Namibia, including local stories and survival skills passed through generations.

The remote location of Vestige Xaudum offers one of its greatest attractions: uninterrupted wilderness. With very few vehicles, minimal artificial lighting and enormous stretches of untouched land, the lodge provides an increasingly rare experience of true isolation, natural silence and wildlife encounters without crowds.

Vestige Xaudum is placing local communities at the heart of its operations by recruiting most of its team members from the nearby Muduva Nyangana and George Mukoya Conservancies. Before welcoming guests, these new employees will complete a three-month residential hospitality training programme, followed by advanced learning, specialised guidance and ongoing mentorship at Vestige Xaudum. The initiative aims to create meaningful career pathways by strengthening local skills, confidence and professional experience within the hospitality sector.

The lodge will also collaborate closely with Namibia’s Ministry of Environment, Forestry and Tourism, conservation authorities, park managers and surrounding conservancies to support conservation efforts identified as priorities by local stakeholders. Wildlife protection and monitoring will be among the key commitments from the beginning, helping safeguard the unique ecosystems and biodiversity of Khaudum for future generations.

Designed for a remote wilderness environment, Vestige Xaudum will follow a low-impact operational model. The lodge will use an on-site solar power system supported by battery storage, while water resources will be carefully managed through responsible borehole use to reduce environmental impact and preserve the fragile landscape.

The First Chapter of Vestige Namibia

Vestige Xaudum marks the beginning of a new luxury wilderness journey across northern Namibia, becoming the first of four exclusive lodges planned under the upcoming Vestige circuit. The collection will later expand with Vestige Sorris Sorris, Vestige Omatendeka and Vestige Sheya Shuushona, each opening gradually as the brand’s Namibian portfolio develops.
