As per a new survey, Dublin is the world’s most desirable foodie destination.
According to MasterCard’s Global Destination Cities Index Indulgences report, visitors to the Irish capital spent over a third of their travel budget on dining out in the city.
Visitors spent almost €700 million at restaurants in Dublin in 2017.
Country Manager for MasterCard in Ireland Sonya Geelon said: “The quality of food and fantastic experiences available when dining out in Dublin is now globally renowned and this report just shows that overseas travellers are coming from far and wide to enjoy and prioritize the culinary delights that our city has to offer.”
The report also shows that tourism is booming in Dublin, with visitor expenditure growing 13.5% year-on-year. This is the highest rate of growth since early 2016, boosted by travelers from the US, France and China.
