Recently, the Minister of Tourism and Antiquities, Egypt, Khaled El-Anany and Minister of Communications and Information Technology, Amr Talaat, took part in a meeting for long hours to find out the latest developments in terms of developing the effectiveness of internet speeds in hotels all over the country, especially in Sharm El-Sheikh.

This meeting was arranged after El-Anany issued a decision forcing all hotels in Egypt to increase their minimum internet speed, in preparation for the 27th Conference of Parties on Climate Change. This will be arranged this November.

On all five, four, or three-star hotels in Egypt, this is applicable, along with floating hotels in Sharm El-Sheikh to be completed in three months, with the remaining facilities given that flexibility to get completed till the end of 2022 across Egypt.

In the meeting, according to what was reviewed so far, to each facility’s telecommunications room, fiber-optic cables have been laid to connect the external network in 50% of Sharm El-Sheikh’s total number of hotels in one month so that these facilities can start contracting for high-speed internet services.
