Greater Bay Airlines Unlocks New Indonesia Travel Gateway With Launch Of Hong Kong Surabaya Flights

Greater Bay Airlines (GBA) has officially expanded its international network with the launch of its first-ever route to Indonesia, beginning scheduled services between Hong Kong and Surabaya on 25 September. The new connection links Hong Kong International Airport with Juanda International Airport in Surabaya, offering travellers a direct travel option between the two cities.
The newly introduced service operates four times weekly, with flights running every Sunday, Monday, Wednesday and Friday. The route strengthens air connectivity between Hong Kong and Indonesia while creating new opportunities for tourism, business, and cultural exchanges between the two markets.

To mark the milestone, GBA hosted an inaugural celebration at Terminal 2 of Hong Kong International Airport on the afternoon of the launch day. The ceremony brought together representatives from the aviation, government, and tourism sectors to celebrate the airline’s latest network expansion.
The event was attended by several distinguished guests, including Legislative Council Members Yiu Pak-leung and Vivian Kong, Acting Consul General of Indonesia in Hong Kong and Macau Baskara Pradipta, Director-General of Civil Aviation Clara Wong, Principal Assistant Secretary for Transport and Logistics Stephen Lo, Assistant Secretary for Transport and Logistics Miki Chan, Airport Authority Hong Kong Director of Service Delivery Wing Yeung, and General Manager of Route Development Ricky Chong.

Following the departure from Hong Kong, the inaugural flight arrived at Juanda International Airport at around 10:00 pm local time, where passengers and the airline were welcomed with a special arrival ceremony celebrating the beginning of the new air link.
The Surabaya route represents an important step in GBA’s regional expansion strategy, adding Indonesia as a new destination within its growing international network and enhancing travel choices for passengers connecting Hong Kong with Southeast Asia.
