Malayisian Airlines has received several awards at the 2026 Skytrax World Airline Awards, and has been recognized for improvements to its services and products. The Airline was awarded Best Airline Staff in Asia, with its Cabin Crew ranked the 2nd best in the World, recognizing the efforts the Airline has taken in improving Hospitality and services offered onboard its planes. The Airline is currently focusing on improving the Travel and Transportation Industry and is striving to be one of the leading Airlines in the world, by making improvements in its infrastructure and services. Malayasian Airlines has invested in enhancing its staff and cabin crew services, extending its flights and routes, improving its aircraft fleet and improving its onboard services.

The national carrier of Malaysia continued its upward movement in the global rankings, rising six places to secure 21st position in the World’s Best Airline category. The latest results highlight the airline’s ongoing transformation strategy, driven by investments in its workforce, onboard experience, fleet development, network expansion and overall customer service improvements.

The airline delivered strong performances across multiple categories at the 2026 awards. Malaysia Airlines advanced significantly in the World’s Best Airport Services category, moving from sixth place in 2025 to second position this year. It also entered the World’s Best Business Class Airlines ranking for the first time, securing 18th place.

In the economy travel segment, Malaysia Airlines improved its position in the World’s Best Economy Class Airlines category, climbing four places to 12th from 16th in the previous year. The carrier also strengthened its reputation for operational standards and passenger comfort by moving up to 11th place in the World’s Cleanest Airline category.

The airline maintained its position among Asia’s leading carriers, remaining within the Top 10 Best Airlines in Asia and ranking 10th in the 2026 edition of the awards.

The results reflect Malaysia Airlines’ continued focus on enhancing every stage of the passenger journey, from airport services and cabin experience to product quality and service delivery.

Over the past two years, Malaysia Airlines has continued to strengthen its customer experience strategy by improving cabin comfort, enhancing onboard services and elevating hospitality standards. The airline has invested in extensive training and capability development programmes for frontline teams, while introducing improved service guidelines and clearer communication across airport and inflight touchpoints.

As part of this transformation, more than 20 customer experience enhancements have been introduced across different stages of the travel journey. These improvements include updated cabin crew grooming standards, personalised Pilot Farewell Greetings, and additional comfort features for Business Class and Business Suite passengers, including pyjamas and upgraded amenities. The airline has also expanded family-friendly initiatives, offering children’s sticker giveaways and special onboard celebrations for World Children’s Day.

Malaysia Airlines has continued to enhance its inflight dining experience with regular menu updates and the introduction of more than 30 new dishes over the past year. The refreshed culinary offering includes popular selections such as Vegetarian Satay and Cendol Ice Cream, reflecting the airline’s focus on combining local flavours with a premium travel experience.

Alongside service improvements, the airline is progressing with wider developments across its fleet, network and onboard products to provide travellers with greater connectivity and choice. Fleet expansion remains a key priority, with Malaysia Airlines having received 29 new aircraft so far and working towards a modern fleet of 117 aircraft by 2035 to support future growth.

The airline has also maintained a strong operational focus, recording an average on-time performance of 91.38% year-to-date, remaining consistently above its operational target and supporting a more reliable passenger experience.

These initiatives are aligned with Malaysia Aviation Group’s Long-Term Business Plan 3.0 (LTBP3.0), which outlines the ambition for Malaysia Airlines to become one of the world’s Top 10 airlines by 2030. The strategy focuses on continued investment in fleet development, network expansion, operational efficiency, product innovation and customer experience improvements.
