In 2024, Haute Route cycling, under new management by FVE, offers thrilling rides in the Pyrenees and Alps, with unchanged format and spirit.

In 2024, the renowned Haute Route cycling events in France, previously managed by the Ironman Group, will transition to France Vélo Evénements (FVE), promising two spectacular bike tours in the Pyrenees and Alps. These events will be overseen by new deputy director Marius Louvet, ensuring the iconic character and format of the series, known for its multi-stage races and top-notch support, remains consistent with its origins dating back to 2011.

Enthusiasts can now sign up for these two forthcoming events, offering an unparalleled opportunity for cyclists to tackle formidable challenges and create lasting memories. Established in early 2023, FVE represents a collaboration between the French Cycling Federation and Hopscotch Sport agency, blending their expertise to provide an exceptional cycling experience to a broad spectrum of amateur riders.

Marius Louvet assures that, despite some backstage enhancements, the core spirit of Haute Route will be preserved. Jean-François Alcan continues as the course director, ensuring a smooth and well-crafted route, while Fergus Grant, affectionately known as the ‘Lantern Rouge’ of Haute Route, will maintain his vital role as a motivational figure, offering support from the starting line, celebrating finishers—often at mountain summits—and leading briefings and award ceremonies.

Fergus Grant shares, “For seven years, it’s been an honor to support cyclists of all levels, from start to finish. Regardless of their skill or timing, the sense of achievement in completing a Haute Route is universal.”

Haute Route Pyrenees
Scheduled from July 1st to 5th, 2024, the Haute Route Pyrenees is a five-day cycling endeavor through the stunning Pyrenees landscape, featuring over 14,000 meters in climbs. The route will pass through iconic locations like Bagnères-de-Luchon and Col du Portet, limited to 500 participants, ensuring a unique and immersive cycling experience.

Haute Route Alps
The Haute Route Alps, the crown jewel of the series, is set for August 25th to 31st, 2024. This seven-day journey traverses the majestic Alps, challenging riders with over 20,000 meters of climbing. Limited to 550 cyclists, it promises an unmatched experience for those brave enough to take on the challenge.

Jean-François remarks, “Our goal is for Haute Route to be a platform where cyclists of all abilities can test their limits, forge unforgettable bonds, and experience a race with the intensity and support of professional events.”
