Over the years, the Queer Ball has established itself as a significant event in the LGBTQ+ community, evolving with themes that mirror both societal changes and cultural trends. Beginning in 2016, the event embraced the “Four Elements” theme, setting a precedent for thematic diversity and creativity. The following year, it celebrated the allure of the “Silver Screen,” marking its debut in Prague and continuing its tradition in Brno. Subsequent themes such as “Colors of Life” and “Behind the Mask” further showcased the event’s commitment to exploring various facets of life and identity.

In 2020, the theme “Forever Together” was chosen, reflecting the LGBT+ community’s advocacy for marriage equality. However, the outbreak of COVID-19 and subsequent government restrictions led to the unfortunate cancellation of the Prague ball, with the event facing further hiatuses over the next two years due to ongoing restrictions.

The Queer Ball’s programme has consistently been a highlight, featuring an array of performances designed to captivate attendees. From mesmerizing light shows by talented artists to fashion showcases appealing to a broad audience and breathtaking acrobatics, the event promises an engaging experience. Notably, parkour performances and dance acts add to the event’s dynamism, with Milan Peroutka, a prominent figure, playing a dual role of host and performer, ensuring a memorable evening.

Scheduled to take place at the Tresor Club on March 2, 2024, the Queer Ball will open its doors at 19:00, with an array of activities planned until the early hours of the next morning. The event will feature live music from the band Eremy, known for its diverse repertoire and live performances, alongside a raffle competition and a variety of dance and entertainment segments, promising a night filled with excitement and celebration.

The Queer Ball’s influence extends beyond the LGBTQ+ community, significantly impacting local tourism by drawing visitors keen on experiencing its unique blend of culture, entertainment, and advocacy. Each theme and programme element not only enriches the local cultural landscape but also positions the event as a beacon of diversity and inclusion, attracting tourists from various backgrounds and contributing to the city’s reputation as a vibrant and welcoming destination.

The anticipation and promotion of the event, particularly through social media, serve to heighten interest and participation, ensuring a wide-reaching impact on local tourism from the planning stages to the conclusion of the ball. The Queer Ball exemplifies how cultural events can foster community, celebrate diversity, and drive tourism, offering insights into the evolving dynamics of cultural celebration and its role in shaping tourist attractions.
