Vietjet and Thales Boost Vietnam Aviation With New MRO, AI and Digital Transformation Deal

Vietjet and Thales Group signed several major contracts to improve technical support and digital solutions for Vietnamese aviation. Thales Group will provide equipment and technical solutions for Vietjet’s A320 and A330 fleet to improve the overall operation of the airline. Through this cooperation, the airlines are committed to provide secure and modern aviation service with innovative and intelligent aviation products.

Under the newly signed “Repair-By-The-Hour” (RBTH) contract, Thales will provide comprehensive component maintenance services for Vietjet’s Airbus A320 and A330 fleets. The agreement highlights Vietjet’s confidence in Thales as a trusted provider of advanced repair and maintenance solutions, while supporting the airline’s efforts to improve fleet reliability, optimise aircraft availability and reduce long-term operational costs.

The partnership was formalised during the Vietnamese delegation’s visit to France and reflects the expanding aviation cooperation between the two countries. Aviation has been identified as an important area within the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership established between France and Vietnam in October 2024. The agreement combines Thales’ global maintenance expertise with Vietjet’s plans for fleet development and aviation growth.

Alongside the MRO agreement, Vietjet and Thales also signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) focused on digital aviation, avionics, connectivity, cybersecurity and AI-powered airline operations. The cooperation will explore advanced technologies designed to improve flight efficiency, strengthen data-driven aircraft maintenance and expand the use of connected aircraft services.

The digital partnership will also focus on applying artificial intelligence and cybersecurity solutions to protect critical aviation systems. Areas of cooperation include secure cloud technologies, predictive maintenance analytics and advanced decision-support tools aimed at improving operational performance.

With extensive experience in commercial aviation technology and a strong focus on artificial intelligence capabilities, Thales will support Vietjet in developing more connected, efficient and secure airline operations. The collaboration will also help strengthen Vietnam’s aviation ecosystem by encouraging knowledge transfer, technical training and the development of local engineering expertise.

Through these agreements, Vietjet and Thales aim to build stronger aviation capabilities in Vietnam while supporting the airline’s digital transformation journey. The cooperation represents a broader commitment to enhancing aircraft support services, improving operational resilience and preparing the country’s aviation sector for future growth.
