The ship’s Eastern Caribbean programme will include Puerto Plata in the Dominican Republic, St Thomas in the US Virgin Islands, Tortola in the British Virgin Islands and Great Stirrup Cay in the Bahamas.

In winter 2027/28, Norwegian Aura is scheduled to switch towards the Western Caribbean, with calls including Roatán in Honduras, Costa Maya and Cozumel in Mexico, and Harvest Caye, NCL’s resort-style destination off Belize.

Great Stirrup Cay Becomes a Bigger Part of the Cruise Experience

Great Stirrup Cay is becoming a major part of Norwegian Cruise Line’s Caribbean strategy. NCL owns the 270-acre private island in the Bahamas and has been expanding its attractions and visitor facilities.

Great Life Lagoon is now open as a 1.4-acre pool area. It includes a large pool, swim-up bars, private cabanas and family facilities. Vibe Shore Club provides a separate adults-only area, while Splash Harbor gives younger visitors a dedicated splash zone. NCL has also opened a new pier and tram service to make it easier for passengers to move between their ship and the island.

The expansion goes further with Great Tides Waterpark, which NCL says will officially open on 4 September 2026. The nearly six-acre attraction will include 19 waterslides, an over 800-foot Wandering River and a 9,000-square-foot children’s splash zone.

One of Norwegian Aura’s most important features will be Ocean Heights.

Spread across decks 18 to 21, the open-air activity area has been designed specifically for multigenerational travel. Ocean Heights will include five major slides, an 82-foot ropes course, a 25-foot climbing wall, mini golf and other outdoor activities.

Norwegian Aura will also expand NCL’s higher-end accommodation.

Of the ship’s 1,976 staterooms, 159 will form part of The Haven by Norwegian, the line’s keycard-access luxury complex. NCL says Norwegian Aura will have 30 per cent more Haven suites than previous Prima Class vessels and the highest number of suites in its fleet.

The Haven will include a dedicated sundeck, panoramic infinity pool, two hot tubs, an outdoor sauna, cold room, private lounge, restaurant and bar. Guests will also receive services including 24-hour butler and concierge support, priority embarkation and disembarkation, and priority access to onboard reservations.
