IHG Hotels & Resorts commemorates the inauguration of its 150th Hotel Indigo worldwide with the unveiling of Hotel Indigo Kuala Lumpur on the Park, marking the brand’s premiere in Malaysia.

Reflecting the unique character of each neighborhood, Hotel Indigo properties distinguish themselves. The 180-room urban retreat, nestled amidst the scenic Bukit Nanas and adjacent to KL Forest Eco Park—the last remaining tropical rainforest in central Kuala Lumpur—takes inspiration from its iconic surroundings. GA Group, a Malaysia-based design firm, artfully incorporates local cultural nuances, historical elements, and rainforest references into the hotel’s design, enhancing the overall guest experience.

Ashleigh Garside, General Manager of Hotel Indigo Kuala Lumpur on the Park, expressed excitement about celebrating the distinctive aspects of the neighborhood, fostering local connections, and creating an authentically local stay experience for guests.

The hotel places a strong emphasis on sustainability in its design. The lobby features a living vertical garden, a unique staircase crafted from recycled railway sleepers and steel bars from the construction site, and a large-scale installation made entirely from recycled plastic bottles. Various elements throughout the property, such as feature lights made from old bottles and artwork created from repurposed materials, contribute to its eco-friendly design.

Hotel Indigo Kuala Lumpur on the Park pays homage to Malaysian culture with tiffin carriers, Hap Seng cracker tins, rattan furniture motifs, hand-painted Peranakan tiles, and pages from nostalgic Chinese calendars adorning the guestrooms. The hotel aims to offer a fresh perspective on the neighborhood, encapsulating its authenticity and charm in intimate spaces that honor local history and traditions.

Guests can savor the diverse Malaysian cuisine without venturing far from the property. Wok Star offers local delicacies, while The Silver Monkey caters to steak enthusiasts. The rooftop boasts a 24-hour fitness center and an outdoor pool, providing a panoramic view of Kuala Lumpur’s cityscape.

Hotel amenities include three versatile event spaces, one with a view of KL Tower. The lobby’s Library showcases books by local authors, available for purchase as souvenirs. Many items in guest rooms, including hand-woven baskets, will be sold to support the Penan community, a nomadic indigenous people from East Malaysia.

As part of the IHG Luxury & Lifestyle portfolio, Hotel Indigo is renowned as the world’s neighborhood hotel, inviting guests to discover culturally rich neighborhoods globally. With 278 hotels open or in development, each Hotel Indigo draws inspiration from local culture and trends to create a vibrant atmosphere. Future openings in 2024 include Hotel Indigo Saigon The City, Hotel Indigo Bandung Dago Pakar, Hotel Indigo Bintan Lagoi Beach, Hotel Indigo Jabal Al-Akhdar, and Hotel Indigo Palau.

Guests, including those at Hotel Indigo Kuala Lumpur on the Park, can benefit from IHG One Rewards, an exceptional loyalty program offering richer benefits tailored to individual needs, powered by a cutting-edge mobile app.
