Mexico’s premier airline, Aeromexico, and Italy’s flagship carrier are celebrating a collaborative codeshare agreement, effective March 10th. This partnership extends enhanced connectivity and perks to travelers between the two nations.
Passengers flying Aeromexico’s Mexico City–Rome route can seamlessly connect to 15 destinations across Italy via Rome Fiumicino International Airport (FCO). On the other hand, travelers with ITA Airways can access 28 destinations served by Aeromexico departing from Mexico City International Airport (MEX).
Under this agreement, travelers can book single tickets and check baggage through to their final destinations, spanning cities like Milan, Genoa, Florence, Naples, Turin, Cancun, Guadalajara, Monterrey, Puerto Vallarta, and Merida.
Both airlines will integrate their loyalty programs, allowing members to earn and soon redeem points on flights operated by ITA Airways and Aeromexico, in addition to SkyTeam benefits for Elite and Elite Plus customers.
Aeromexico Rewards’ Top Tier Platino and Titanio members gain access to ITA Airways lounges in Italy, enjoy complimentary additional baggage, and priority boarding. Similarly, ITA Airways’ Club Premium and Club Executive members can access Aeromexico’s Salones Premier in Mexico City, Monterrey, Guadalajara, Torreon, and Chihuahua.
Aeromexico will continue to operate its Mexico City–Rome route using the Boeing 787 Dreamliner, renowned for its comfort, efficiency, and eco-friendliness. The Dreamliner fleet has significantly reduced CO2 emissions and noise pollution during takeoff and landing.
ITA Airways operates a fleet of 83 Airbus aircraft, including 40 of the latest generation models such as the A320neo family, A220-300, A220-100, A330-900, and A350-900.
This collaboration marks ITA Airways’ 36th codeshare agreement, achieved within just over two years since the commencement of its operations.
