Air Transat debuts direct Toronto-Lima flight, becoming the only airline offering non-stop Canada-Peru routes, expanding global connectivity.

Air Transat, having earned the title of World’s Best Leisure Airline at the Skytrax World Airline Awards for the fifth time in 2023, is excited to announce the commencement of its first flight from Toronto to Lima (TS152). This significant event was followed by the inaugural journey from Montreal (TS150) to the Peruvian capital, scheduled for Friday, December 22. These unique direct flights, the sole direct connections between Canada and Peru, are set to operate year-round, with two weekly flights from Toronto and one from Montreal.

“We’re delighted to see our aircraft soaring above Peru, marking the beginning of this promising new route,” expressed Michèle Barre, Chief Revenue Officer at Transat. “Lima is a key South American destination in our network, aligning with our ongoing strategy to tap into the growing tourism market in this region. We’re especially excited to offer our customers the chance to explore Peru’s rich cultural heritage and natural wonders.”

Passengers can look forward to a selection of comprehensive travel packages and handpicked hotels across Peru. Additionally, plans are in motion to introduce a variety of excursions to these offerings soon.

These routes will feature the modern Airbus A321LR, renowned for its spacious interiors, advanced in-flight entertainment systems, and eco-friendly performance with minimal fuel consumption and reduced emissions.

Kurush Minocher, Executive Director of Customer Experience and Airline Relations at Greater Toronto Airports Authority, shared his enthusiasm: “We’re ecstatic about Air Transat’s year-round service to Lima from Toronto Pearson. South America, and especially Lima, was a previously untapped market from YYZ. This addition is significant, offering direct flights and saving passengers over 30% in travel time compared to existing routes.”

Emilio Parada, Commercial Strategy and Marketing Manager at Lima Airport Partners, commented on the impact of this new service: “The inauguration of direct flights to these key Canadian cities is a landmark event for Peru’s aviation sector, contributing significantly to the economic revival of our industry, boosting tourism, enhancing connectivity, and fostering new relationships between Peru and Canada.”

“ADM Aéroports de Montréal welcomes this new direct service to Lima by Air Transat, offering travelers a gateway to a destination steeped in history and culture,” remarked Stéphane Lapierre, Vice President of Air Operations and Air Services Development. “This year-round service is a boon not just for Montreal’s sizable Peruvian community but for all Quebecois eager to explore this region. Our thanks go to the Air Transat team for their dedication in launching this route, further establishing YUL as a key hub in international air travel.”
