airBaltic, the national carrier of Latvia, recently celebrated the arrival of its 47th Airbus A220-300 aircraft, bearing the registration YL-ABU, at its hub in Riga. This marks airBaltic’s inaugural Airbus A220-300 acquisition in 2024, contributing to its ambitious order of 50 units of the same model. Additionally, in November 2023, airBaltic made headlines by securing a definitive agreement to purchase 30 more Airbus A220-300 planes, with the option to buy up to 20 more, enhancing its future growth prospects.

To date, the airline has successfully transported over 14.478 million passengers using its Airbus A220-300 fleet, achieving more than 160,000 flights and accumulating 352,000 block hours of flight time.

Since transitioning in May 2020 to exclusively operate Airbus A220-300s, airBaltic has streamlined its operations, leveraging the aircraft’s superior efficiency and performance. The Airbus A220-300 has exceeded airBaltic’s expectations, standing out for its operational efficiency, fuel savings, and elevated comfort levels for passengers and crew alike. It boasts an array of passenger-friendly features, including more spacious seating, larger windows, increased overhead bin space, enhanced restrooms, and other amenities, ensuring a more enjoyable travel experience.

Furthermore, the Airbus A220-300 distinguishes itself by being significantly quieter, with its noise footprint being notably less than that of previous generation aircraft. It currently leads as the most environmentally friendly commercial aircraft available, with a clear commitment to minimizing its ecological footprint. This includes reductions in CO2 and NOX emissions by 25% and 50%, respectively, compared to earlier models and industry benchmarks, underlining its role in promoting sustainable aviation.
