According to the latest tourism data covering the Dubrovnik Tourist Board area, a total of 9,883 nautical tourists arrived in August 2026. The figure represented 97% of the previous year’s level, reflecting a year-on-year decrease of approximately 3%.

A larger reduction was recorded in overnight stays. Nautical visitors generated 62,070 overnight stays during August 2026, reaching an index of 93 compared with August 2025. This indicated a decline of around 7%, suggesting that visitors stayed for slightly shorter periods during the peak summer month.

Despite the softer seasonal performance, Dubrovnik’s nautical tourism sector continued to maintain its position as one of the most internationally connected segments of Croatia’s coastal travel economy. The strong performance of the US market highlighted the destination’s growing appeal among long-haul travellers seeking premium maritime experiences.

The United Kingdom ranked second, while domestic Croatian visitors secured the third position among the leading nautical tourism markets.

Other major international markets contributing to Dubrovnik’s nautical visitor numbers included Australia, France, Italy, Spain, Germany, Poland and Canada. The diverse visitor mix demonstrated that nautical tourism in Dubrovnik was supported by a broad global customer base rather than relying on a single region.

The strong presence of long-distance markets, particularly the United States, Australia and Canada, reflected the continued international popularity of Dubrovnik as a luxury coastal destination. The city’s historic character, protected coastline, island routes and sailing infrastructure have helped strengthen its reputation among global maritime travellers.

Between January 1 and August 31, 2026, the destination recorded 32,810 nautical tourist arrivals and 213,834 overnight stays.

Both indicators reached an index of 96 compared with the same period in 2025, representing an approximate decline of 4% year-on-year.

The figures demonstrated that while demand had eased slightly, Dubrovnik continued to attract a substantial number of sailing visitors throughout the year. More than 213,000 nautical overnight stays within eight months confirmed the importance of yacht and boating tourism as a key contributor to the destination’s tourism economy.

The first eight months also reinforced the dominance of the United States market. American travellers remained the largest nautical tourism source market, followed by the United Kingdom, Australia and Croatia.

The remaining leading markets included France, Germany, Poland, Canada, Spain and Austria, further highlighting the international character of Dubrovnik’s maritime tourism sector.

The continued strength of these markets reflected the appeal of Dubrovnik’s Adriatic setting, where historic attractions, island landscapes and sailing opportunities combine to create a premium travel experience.

International Sailors Continue to Support Dubrovnik’s Premium Coastal Tourism Image

Besides, more than 213,000 overnight onboard stays were recorded by August 1.
