American Cruise Lines is delighted to share that it currently has five additional new ships in the process of construction, all slated for delivery over the next two years. This comes as an extension to the three ships the company received earlier this year. All five vessels are intended for the U.S. market, featuring a combination of American Riverboats and Coastal Cats. This expansion is poised to strengthen American Cruise Lines’ presence on the coasts, with a renewed focus on the Mississippi and Columbia Rivers, where the Line’s highly acclaimed modern riverboats dominate the U.S. market.

For over 50 years, American Cruise Lines has been a specialist in river and small ship cruising, having ordered the majority of American-built cruise ships during this period. The company proudly operates the sole fleet of 100% U.S. registered riverboats and cruise ships globally.

Charles B. Robertson, President & CEO of American Cruise Lines, expressed excitement about the new contract, emphasizing it as a significant expansion of the fleet. He stated, “After several years developing the coastal fleet, we are once again prepared to enhance U.S. River cruise capacity.”

The construction of the new ships will be undertaken by Chesapeake Shipbuilding in Salisbury, MD. Further details, including schedules, will be made available in Q1 of 2024.
