Recently, in a local French newspaper, the headline blasted the good news that the Americans are back!

The tourists from America are now in full ‘Revenge Travel’ mode after wasting two years sitting at home due to the spread of COVID-19 and its countless rules and restrictions, have swarmed France with the tourism dollars of the Americans to the point where even the normally aloof French people have started welcoming Americans with open arms.

And it’s true!
France is getting saved because of American tourism. It’s not just the well-known hotspots like the Eiffel Tower, Louvre, or the haute couture of Paris. Now, Americans are exploring its wine and beaches and it’s particularly appreciated by the French in 2022 because of the dearth of Russian tourists who are generally high-spending. Russian tourists have stopped traveling because of the sanctions imposed by various countries over the invasion of Russia and ongoing war with Ukraine.

The levels of tourism in France are just about at 2019 pre-pandemic levels.

Frédéric Hocquard, Paris deputy mayor for tourism, said that the Americans are doing the job. This means that they are coming back to France in huge numbers and spending a lot of money.

On an everyday basis, American tourists spend an average of $402 while in France, according to CNN. Majority of them spend more than $760 per day over a typical 10-day stay. That counts a lot of euros.
