France is currently experiencing a surge in tourism, with a notable influx of American travelers planning vacations to the country this year. According to recent research by luxury tour operator Scott Dunn, a significant third (34%) of Americans have chosen France as their destination for 2024, with over one in ten (12%) of these being first-time visitors.

This trend has been highlighted in Scott Dunn’s Travel Trends Report, which identifies France as the premier destination for travelers this year. With nearly 100 million visitors in the previous year, France is projected to exceed this number in 2024, potentially becoming the most visited country globally by 2025.

Data from Scott Dunn reveals a substantial increase in bookings from US travelers compared to previous years, indicating a growing interest in visiting France. Additionally, a survey of 2,000 US adults conducted as part of the research sheds light on the motivations behind this trend and identifies the most popular destinations within France.

Unsurprisingly, Paris emerges as the top destination, with landmarks like the Eiffel Tower and the allure of the upcoming Olympic Games driving its popularity. Normandy also stands out as a favored destination, particularly appealing to history enthusiasts due to the upcoming 80th anniversary of D-Day Remembrance celebrations.

The top five destinations for US travelers in France this year include Paris, Normandy, the Alps, Nice, and the French Riviera. These locations are renowned for their cultural significance, picturesque landscapes, and luxurious amenities.

The appeal of France lies in its diverse offerings, with over half of American travelers drawn to the excellent cuisine, stunning scenery, and opportunities for relaxation. While romance is often associated with France, factors such as wine tourism and sporting events like the Olympic Games, Tour de France, and Formula One races also contribute significantly to its allure.

In summary, France’s status as a travel hotspot in 2024 can be attributed to its multifaceted attractions, from iconic landmarks to cultural celebrations, making it an enticing destination for travelers seeking diverse experiences.
