AP tourism chief secretary asks for fast implementation of projects

The Chief Secretary of Andhra Pradesh tourism, Mr. K.S. Jawahar Reddy asked the tourism division officials to finish all projects taken up and in the public-private mode as soon as possible. He proposed that a timeline needs to be fixed for each of these schemes for implementing them without unreasonable postponements.


Mr. Jawahar Reddy addressed an evaluation meeting regarding tourism ventures at the Secretariat. He said that beach tourism is another segment which the department needs to keep high on its schedule, since the 970-kms long shoreline has marvellous prospect to lure tourists from all over. Elementary infrastructure needs to be set up at eco-tourism places, cascades and caves with due significance to be given for promoting water sports.


Rajat Bhargava, the Special Chief Secretary said that top precedence is being given to provide temple
tourism with an impetus as per the pilgrimage rejuvenation and spiritual augmentation drive (PRASAD). Srisailam, Annavaram and Simhachalam temples have been recognized under this initiative.


K. Kanna Babu, AP Tourism Corporation MD spoke of several tourism schemes that need to be put into practice. Plans are being made to uphold water sports at reservoirs and lakes at 77 sites. Likewise, 289 places have been classified for restoration under the beach tourism plan.
