Second Airbus A320neo Arrives in Portugal for Azores Airlines

Azores Airlines welcomed its second Airbus A320neo following its inaugural flight from Toulouse to Lisbon. The aircraft touched down at Lisbon’s Humberto Delgado Airport at approximately 12:30 pm (local time).

This addition marks a milestone in Azores Airlines’ ongoing fleet replacement program, transitioning from A320ceo models to the advanced A320neo. Featuring cutting-edge technology, the A320neo promises enhanced operational efficiency and reduced environmental impact.

With its latest-generation engines and aerodynamic innovations, including Airbus Sharklets™ wings, the new A320neo is poised to deliver a 20% reduction in fuel consumption, lower emissions, decreased operational costs, and increased cargo capacity compared to its predecessors.

Teresa Gonçalves, CEO of SATA Group, expressed enthusiasm for the arrival, highlighting the airline’s dedication to operational excellence and environmental stewardship. The adoption of eco-friendly equipment and ergonomic cabin configurations underscores Azores Airlines’ commitment to passenger comfort and sustainability.

Like its predecessor, the first A320neo received earlier this year, the new aircraft boasts a 168-seat layout and a cabin design reflecting the serene blue hues synonymous with the SATA brand. Inspired by the natural tranquility of the Azores Archipelago, meticulous attention was given to lighting and sound schemes to ensure a welcoming atmosphere onboard.

Registered as CS-TSM, the new Azores Airlines A320neo will soon integrate the airline’s operations pending necessary formalities.
