Azores Airlines dominates travel preferences during 2023 peak season

During the peak season of 2023, Azores Airlines emerged as the preferred choice among travelers flying to the archipelago. A recent report from the Azores Tourism Observatory revealed that 64.57% of surveyed passengers expressed high satisfaction with the destination overall.

“We are very pleased to see Azores Airlines standing out as the most popular airline when it comes to organizing a trip to the Azores. t’s a position that really means a lot to us, and it’s a reward for all the work we’ve done to meet the demands of travelers who visit the archipelago. SATA Group airlines are the reference when it comes to travel to and within the Azores and this survey tells us that passengers are satisfied with the service we have been providing,” states Teresa Gonçalves, President of the SATA Group. 

In 2023, Azores Airlines and SATA Air Açores collectively transported 2.4 million passengers, marking a notable 25% increase compared to the previous year. Specifically, Azores Airlines saw a significant surge, carrying 1.4 million passengers, reflecting a 34% rise from the preceding year and a remarkable 52% increase from the pre-pandemic year of 2019.

Azores Airlines, renowned for its extensive service network, facilitates air connections from the Azores Archipelago to North America, Europe (including Mainland Portugal and the Madeira Archipelago), and the Cape Verde Archipelago. This year, the airline will introduce new routes such as Ponta Delgada/Milan/Ponta Delgada, Ponta Delgada/London/Ponta Delgada, and domestic routes like Ponta Delgada/Faro/Ponta Delgada, enhancing accessibility to the archipelago and facilitating connections between Europe and North America.

The SATA Group airlines play a crucial role in promoting tourism in the Azores and facilitating connectivity to the archipelago. Through their collaborative efforts, they provide passengers with a diverse destination experience, making it possible to explore multiple islands in a well-organized and comfortable manner.
Year by year, these airlines have met increasing demand by expanding seat capacity, consequently witnessing consistent growth in passenger numbers.
