Kansai Airports will be transforming the Osaka Itami Airport into an aviation festival in 2026 with Sky Day Airport Festival taking place on the 3rd of October, 2026. Festival participants will experience the many facets of the aviation industry through participatory and engaging activities, exhibitions, and special events.

Sky Day is an annual aviation celebration created to promote greater awareness and interest in the aviation industry. Every year, airports across Japan organise special programmes that allow visitors to discover more about airports, aircraft operations and the people who support air travel.

The Sky Day Airport Festival 2026 at Osaka Itami Airport will feature a wide range of exclusive experiences, including colourful exhibition booths hosted by aviation-related organisations, live stage performances featuring music and dance, mini aviation lessons and appearances by popular mascot characters representing communities around the airport.

Visitors will also have the chance to explore airline hangars, where they can view airport service vehicles, participate in hands-on aviation job experiences and purchase aviation-themed merchandise. A special joint programme featuring airlines and air traffic controllers will provide guests with a deeper understanding of aviation careers and the important roles involved in keeping airports operating safely and efficiently.

Through events that connect people with aviation and create memorable experiences, the Kansai Airports Group aims to showcase the appeal of airports, inspire interest in the aviation sector and share the joy of travel with more visitors.

Event Schedule and Venue Details

The Sky Day Airport Festival 2026 will be held on Saturday, 3 October 2026, from 10:00 to 16:00 at Osaka Itami Airport. The event will go ahead regardless of weather conditions; however, some activities planned for the observation deck may be cancelled in the event of rain, with limited exceptions.

The festival will take place across several airport locations, including the observation deck, Hoshi no Ma on the fourth floor of the North Terminal, JAL and ANA airline hangars, and the West Japan Civil Aviation Bureau ITAMI Office. Free shuttle buses will operate between the airline hangars and the main event areas for visitors’ convenience.

The event is organised by Kansai Airports and supported by a wide range of aviation, transport and community partners, including the West Japan Civil Aviation Bureau ITAMI Office under the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism, the Osaka International Airport Surrounding Area Revitalization Committee, the Osaka International Airport Terminal Building Association, the Sky Friend Association of Osaka, All Nippon Airways, Japan Airlines, IBEX Airlines, Amakusa Airlines, Osaka Monorail, and Hankyu Kanko Bus.

Visitors can enjoy a variety of aviation-themed activities, including exhibition booths hosted by participating organisations, live stage programmes, airline hangar tours, hands-on aviation experiences, air traffic control simulator sessions and control tower tours.

The festival will also feature the “Joint Event with Airlines and Air Traffic Controllers”, a stamp rally activity and many other interactive programmes designed to help visitors discover the world of aviation.
