Hong Kong Reclaims Global MICE Spotlight as 108th Lions International Convention 2026 Returns for a Historic Third Time with Around 17,000 Global Delegates Expected

The Hong Kong Tourism Board has confirmed its support for the 108th Lions International Convention 2026, which will be held in Hong Kong. The city has previously hosted this prestigious global gathering in 1992 and again in 2005. With its selection for a third time, Hong Kong continues to strengthen its reputation as a preferred destination for major international conventions.

Lions Clubs International has chosen Hong Kong once more as the host city for its flagship event, which is expected to bring together approximately 17,000 delegates from around the world. This repeat selection places Hong Kong among a very small number of cities across more than 200 Lions member countries and regions to have hosted the convention three times.

The milestone further reinforces Hong Kong’s positioning as a leading global meetings hub. It highlights the city’s strong infrastructure, connectivity, and event capabilities. The recognition also enhances its standing as Asia’s premier events capital and a globally recognised meeting point for international organisations.

By hosting the same high-profile convention for the third time, Hong Kong strengthens its identity as Asia’s World City and a trusted destination for large-scale global gatherings.

The 108th Lions International Convention is currently underway in Hong Kong, running for five consecutive days from 3 to 7 July at AsiaWorld-Expo. In a symbolic celebration of traditional Chinese culture, organisers are planning a world record attempt involving thousands of Lions members performing Tai Chi at the same time. The coordinated mass participation aims to showcase the practice’s emphasis on balance, wellness, and collective discipline.

Beyond the record-setting ambition, the activity is designed to encourage physical well-being among participants while also promoting awareness of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The finale is expected to serve as a culturally rich and meaningful conclusion to the convention, blending heritage, health, and global civic values into one unified demonstration.
